SunWest Missionaries

Therefore, go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Louise and Dave Sinclair-Peters

Our vision is to grow teams of radical disciple-makers who reach their neighbours with the good news that Jesus sets us free. Our teams form communities who follow Jesus, love each other with abandon and pursue the Father into a life of radical mercy, justice and reconciliation.

Louise is the Multiply Regional Team Leader for Central Thailand and Myanmar. She works together with Thai and Myanmar leaders to listen to their dreams, visions and goals and to develop effective disciple making strategies. Louise has a passion for gardening and getting her hands dirty.  Her two favourite questions are:  "How can I help you?" and “What is bringing you joy these days?”

Dave is the Multiply Regional Coach for East Asia and works with Multiply Global Workers to help them to grow and thrive in their assignments.  Dave oversees budgets and financial reports for our team and loves it when the books balance at the end of the month.  But he’s still most passionate about making disciples, running and Arsenal FC.  His favourite question is “How is God working in your life?"

Greg Toews

In November 1995, Greg walked into Sho Klo refugee camp in northwestern Thailand. There he met some Karen people seeking shelter, who had fled the Burma Army attacks against their villages. The life stories of those shared on that trip and many more after that, changed what Greg wanted to accomplish in his life. Then in 2001, he founded the Canadian chapter of a new NGO called Partners Relief & Development and lived the next seven years in Thailand starting and running programs to assist and better the lives and communities affected by conflict, as a member of the operations team. Partners' work has expanded beyond Thailand to seven countries, serving hundreds of thousands each year with a focus to assist those affected by conflict and oppression.

Lorin and Maria Friesen

Lorin and Maria Friesen are local missionaries with Youth Unlimited/YFC (which you may know as Youth for Christ). Youth Unlimited (YU) is a faith-based organization that meets youth where they are at. YU envisions that young people in the Greater Calgary area, as they experience a community of hope, will be transformed and will be a redemptive presence in our city and beyond.

Maria Friesen came to YU in 1994. After volunteering for 2 years, she came on staff. Maria worked in the frontline street ministry for 17 years. In 2010, she took on the role of Associate Executive Director. Maria coaches current ministry leaders and mentors new incoming ministry workers. Maria designed our current StreetLight Mobile Youth Drop-In Centre, and has created our young parents program Keramiko. Maria's ideal work week is a mix of frontline ministry and helping to guide others in their ministry efforts.

Lorin came to YU back in 1995 as part of the Campus Life Team.  After 12 years of ministry in Carstairs, he was able to look back and see the impact his ministry had on the youth and counts it a privilege to still be connected with them and their growing families.  This is what brings Lorin back to youth ministry, as the Worth Auto Director.

Worth Auto is an employment-training program in the form of an automotive repair shop geared towards Calgary’s youth. Many of the youth we work with lack work experience, healthy role models and opportunities.  Since 1977, Worth Auto has been helping youth and young adults in Calgary.  We now accomplish this through work on donated vehicles with the assistance of qualified technicians. They inspect, repair and certify vehicles and then sell them to families or individuals in our community. This program provides an outlet for their potential that will allow them to be productive and learn valuable employment skills while developing a positive sense of worth and identity with a focus on their spiritual identity as well.  The balanced approach helps bring success to all aspects of these kids' lives.
